-Leave the hassles of managing a race horse to us, enjoy the ease of just showing up on race day! Ridgewood and our accountant handle all paper work involved, including paying vet bills, trainer bills, transportation bills, keeping a license on file in the states we’re currently racing, providing all partners with a K-1 tax form, keeping up regular communication with the trainer and making any minor day to day decisions that need to be made. We keep partners informed of all the latest happenings, however you can be as involved as you prefer.
-No ongoing fees from Ridgewood, profits go directly to the partners. Most partnerships charge some or all of the following fees: mark-up on the horse purchase, mark-ups on all bills, monthly management fees, winning fees taken from the purse earnings and a fee for selling the horse at the end of the partnership. Ridgewood makes it’s profit the same as any of the partners, from owning winning race horses.
-Add some excitement to your day to day routine with racing and training updates about your horse. We update partners at least once a week of their horses current condition, along with news on any upcoming races.
-Possible to have an excellent return on investment. Of course there are no guarantees what a horse is capable of, there is a fair chance of seeing a decent ROI. Although only few horses go on to be million dollar winners each year, the range of horses we purchase all have the possibility of being a “home run horse”.
-Spend a few mornings at the track. All owners have access to the backstretch area of the tracks. Bring a cup of coffee and relax in one of the many owner viewing areas, as you watch your horse go through a morning workout.
-Enjoy racing at the most prestigious tracks across the nation. You can expect to race at Keeneland and Churchill Downs, it is also likely that you will race at Saratoga in New York, Gulfstream in Miami, Hoosier Park in Indianapolis or Arlington Park in Chicago.
-Attend races as an owner in the “Sport of Kings”. Most tracks offer special lounges and VIP parking for owners. All tracks also have a horseman's services department that is happy to provide you with a free owner's box or table reservations for you to watch your horses on race day. There is also the excitement of meeting up with your horse and trainer in the paddocks as they saddle up before the race. Get the inside story as you listen to the trainer and jockey go over their game plan.
